Garden Waste Expansion April 2016
Briefing Note
What is happening?
From April 1st 2016 Newark and Sherwood will be offering all residents a chargeable garden waste service. The areas currently collected by Rushcliffe Borough Council and Mansfield District Council will continue as before, but NSDC will expand their service to include all remaining parts of the district.
The service will be the same as currently offered:
- £30 a year
- A brown bin
- An all year-round collection service - every two weeks between March and November, and monthly from December to February
- Additional bins are available at £30 each
- The service runs from 1 April to 31 March. There are no concession or pro-rata for joining the service part-way through the year
- Sticker, to be placed on the bin. Only bins with stickers on will be collected
How?
Administration of the service will be done by Rushcliffe Borough Council, under the same terms and conditions as currently. No payment/logging jobs will be done by NSDC.
For all enquiries about the service residents should contact Rushcliffe on 0115 981 9911 or email customerservices@rushcliffe.gov.uk.
Alternatively see: www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/gardenbins
When?
In the second week of January, a letter will be posted by NSDC to all residents within the expanded NSDC area inviting them to pay for the service. Following payment, bin sticker and information will be posted to the resident by RBC.
From February, brown bin(s) will be delivered giving time for residents to fill it up before first collections start.
The collection service will start April 1st 2016.
