Charity bike ride for defibrilator

"In May a group of intrepid cyclists undertook the Coast to Coast cycle challenge to raise funds for a defibrillator to be sited in the phone box in Maplebeck, along with one for the village of  Kirton
The event was organised by Roger Bell who had intended to complete the course himself, however a heart attack a few weeks before the event prevented him cycling but he was well enough to lead the support team assisted by his wife Sue.
The group of six cyclists including Allen Bladon from Kersall set off from Whitehaven in Cumbria on Friday morning and 140 miles later arrived at Tynemouth on Sunday afternoon, a fabulous effort made by all!
The groups fundraising efforts paid off and a defibrillator has now been installed at Kirton with the one for Maplebeck ready to be installed in the newly decorated telephone box - thank you to Brendan, Roger, Sue & Rachel for their help in getting this ready."
