Success at Stage 3 of Big Lottery Reaching Comunities - Buildings

In February 2012 we were invited to make a final stage 3 application to this fund for help in financing the building of our replacement village hall. This application was made in July 2012 and on 16th October 2012 the Big Lottery announced that we had been awarded the full amount requested.

The Chair of the Turton Memorial Hall Management Committee, Derek Sayer said
"The village is delighted with this briliant news. A lot of volunteers have put an enormous amount of effort into this re-building project over the last 5 years and we can now look forward to securing the final funds and making a start on construction in Spring 2013. Replacing a 100 year old village hall with a sustainable building, fit for 21st century activities, events, and hopefully for the next 100 years, will give the whole community a real sense of achievement."

We have been awarded a grant of £213,000, which will go a long way towards the total construction cost. Our residents have so far donated or pledged £50,000 towards the project and we need to find a balance of £45,000. Applications to other funders have been made. The Big Lottery award is dependant upon securing this balance within the next 5 months. We are hopeful that this can be achieved and that building can start in March 2013. Success at Stage 2 of BIG Lottery  Reaching Communities – Buildings

In October 2011 we made a Stage 2 application to this fund for help in financing the building of our replacement village hall. This was successful and in February 2012 we were invited to make a final application at the Stage 3 level for the construction grant.

We have been awarded a Development Grant of £11,000 by the Big Lottery, which will enable us to work with the architect and engineers to prepare the detailed design drawings and calculations in preparation for building regulations. These will form an important part of the Stage 3 application

.
There is a lot of work to be done for this final Stage 3, including a business plan and a project delivery plan for the building, and the Sub-Committees will continue to work on these. We are asking the Big Lottery for a further grant of £180,000 (finally ammended to (£213,000) and have a deadline of mid July 2012 for the application, which means that we should have a final decision by the end of October 2012.
